The most natural-looking and feeling replacement you can get for a missing tooth is an implant. Whether you have one, several, or even all of the teeth on one jaw that have been lost, implants are the solution.
Here at Kellerman Dental in Glen Carbon, you’re getting the benefit of a skilled and experienced practitioner when it comes to the surgical procedure of placing a dental implant. So you can be confident in its success and in getting back your complete smile.
To be considered the right candidate for implants, you will need to have healthy gums and a thick and robust jawbone to hold the implant post. Other factors, such as being a smoker or a diabetic, can also affect whether you’re eligible, but that is something that you can discuss with our dentist. And because of bone grafting, a thin or weak jawbone won’t necessarily disqualify you from getting our Glen Carbon implants.
There is a two-step process that begins with the placement of a cylindrical titanium post in your jaw. Over several months, your jaw bone will grow around it and ultimately fuse with it to create a lasting and dependable bond. The post acts as a brand new root, something that older restorations don’t offer. The second part is the tooth-colored crown that will be made to fit you with precision. It is cemented to the post, and that’s all there is to it. You will be able to eat and speak with full assurance. Brush your implant and floss between it and your other teeth as you would typically do.
The success rate for implants is about 98%, which is excellent. And with proper care and maintenance, they can last a lifetime. Why not contact our office and let us schedule a convenient time for you to come in for a consultation?
